International Protein Amino Charged WPI

Product details

On this page

International Protein Amino Charged WPI is an Australian-made whey protein isolate with 35.3 g of protein in every 40 g serve. Each serve has just 152 calories, 1.4 g of carbs, 0.5 g of sugar and 0.3 g of fat. International Protein adds hydrolysed whey peptides, L-glutamine and L-arginine, which is where the name "Amino Charged" comes from. Choose a 1.25 kg tub (31 serves) or a 3 kg tub (75 serves), in 7 flavours plus a 3 kg multi flavour pack.

    Why choose Amino Charged WPI

Amino Charged WPI is International Protein’s whey protein isolate. Bodybuilders and high-performance athletes know Amino Charged as an incredible alternative to whey protein concentrate (WPC) that can help you build lean muscle and improve muscle recovery.

International Protein WPI has the highest protein (94% on a dry weight basis), the lowest fat in a protein, and less than 1% carbohydrates and sugars (lactose). Fast digesting and high in protein, International Protein WPI is the best post-workout supplement for your body. Added aminos make Amino Charged perfect if you want a fast recovery after exercise.

What Amino Charged WPI helps with

    • Building muscle: 35.3 g of protein and 3.6 g of leucine per serve to support muscle growth when you train.
    • Recovery after training: fast-digesting whey isolate with added L-glutamine to support recovery.
    • Lean diets: 152 calories, 1.4 g of carbs and 0.3 g of fat per serve, so Amino Charged WPI fits a cut or a low-carb plan.
    • Easier on the stomach: only 0.3 g of lactose per serve, so many people who feel bloated on regular whey do better on an isolate.

    Nutrition per serve

Per serve (40 g) Amount What this means for you
Calories 152 (636 kJ) Lean protein without many extra calories
Protein 35.3 g More protein per serve than most powders
Leucine (naturally occurring) 3.6 g The amino acid most linked to muscle building
BCAAs (naturally occurring) 8.3 g Leucine, isoleucine and valine together
L-glutamine (added) 640 mg Added amino acid to support recovery
L-arginine (added) 360 mg Added amino acid
    Carbohydrate 1.4 g Fits a low-carb or keto-style plan
Sugars 0.5 g No added sugar
Lactose 0.3 g Very low lactose, but not lactose free
    Fat 0.3 g
    Sodium 138 mg

Figures are averages for all flavours, from the International Protein label shown on this page. BCAA and leucine figures come from the typical amino acid profile on the same label. Check the label on your tub.

    What does "Amino Charged" mean?

Whey isolate already has every essential amino acid your body needs. International Protein then "charges" the formula with three extras:

    • Hydrolysed whey peptides: whey isolate that has been partly broken down into smaller pieces, so your body can absorb the protein faster.
    • L-glutamine (640 mg): the most common amino acid in muscle, used to support recovery. International Protein uses pure glutamine, not glutamine peptides made from wheat.
    • L-arginine (360 mg): an amino acid your body uses to make nitric oxide.

    Ingredients

Whey protein isolate, flavours, hydrolysed whey protein isolate (whey peptides), L-glutamine, L-arginine, natural colours, sweetener (sucralose) and emulsifier (soy lecithin). Chocolate flavours also contain cocoa, and Cookies & Cream contains chocolate flakes. No aspartame, no vegetable gums and no soy protein. International Protein says the whey is grass-fed and the product is made in Australia.

WPI vs WPC: is an isolate worth the extra cost?

Whey protein concentrate (WPC) is less filtered, so WPC costs less but has more lactose, fat and carbs. Whey protein isolate (WPI) like Amino Charged WPI is filtered more, so you get more protein per scoop and much less lactose. Pick an isolate if regular whey makes you bloated, or you are counting every calorie. If whey sits fine with you and you want the lowest price per serve, International Protein also makes Superior Whey.

    Sizes and value

    • 1.25 kg tub: 31 serves, about $5.48 a serve. A good way to try a flavour.
    • 3 kg tub: 75 serves, about $4.80 a serve. Lasts about 2.5 months at one serve a day.
    • 3 kg multi flavour pack: 75 serves across several flavours, for people who get bored of one taste.

    7 flavours

Banana Ice Cream, Caramel Popcorn, Chocolate, Choc Raspberry, Cookies & Cream, Strawberry and Vanilla Ice Cream, all in both tub sizes. Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream mix well with milk, coffee or oats. Caramel Popcorn and Choc Raspberry are the dessert picks. Not sure which to pick? Amino Charged WPI is covered by our Love the Taste Guarantee. Try up to 5 serves within 30 days. If you don't love the flavour, swap for another or take store credit.

How to take Amino Charged WPI

Add 40 g (1 1/3 scoops, or about 3 heaped tablespoons) to 200 to 300 ml of cold water or milk. Shake or blend until smooth. Water gives you the leanest shake. Milk makes a thicker, creamier shake with more calories. Have 1 serve after training, and 1 to 2 more serves a day if you need more protein, for example with breakfast or as a snack.

Who should take Amino Charged WPI?

Amino Charged WPI is a good fit for people who lift weights and want a lot of protein per scoop, people on a cut who want protein with almost no carbs or fat, and anyone who finds regular whey heavy on the stomach. Amino Charged WPI is a great value pick for people who use 2 or more shakes a day, because the 3 kg tub keeps the price per serve down.

    Amino Charged WPI and creatine

Protein and creatine do different jobs. Amino Charged WPI gives your muscles the protein they need to repair. Creatine monohydrate helps your muscles make the quick energy they use for heavy lifts and sprints. Most people take 3 to 5 g of creatine a day. Add the creatine to your protein shake if you like, because creatine has no taste.

What to take with Amino Charged WPI

    Allergens and side effects

Amino Charged WPI contains milk and soy (soy lecithin). Each serve has only 0.3 g of lactose, but Amino Charged WPI is not lactose free, so people with a milk allergy or strong lactose intolerance should check with their doctor first. Some people notice mild bloating when they first add a protein shake, so start with one serve a day and drink plenty of water. Not suitable for children under 15 or pregnant women.
